At its meeting on May 19, the Cabinet of Ministers approved a draft Decree of the President of Ukraine "On the Communication Strategy of the National Policy of Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine until 2025".

The purpose of the document is to achieve the country's strategic course towards full membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and to ensure the support by Ukrainian citizens for state policy in the field of Euro-Atlantic integration.

"Ukraine's course for NATO membership is irreversible, and right now we have the vital unity at all levels: political, social, practical. But in the context of the constant threats of new waves of hybrid aggression from the Russian Federation, we see the intention to destroy our progress and unity regarding our strategic course towards Alliance membership. Therefore, it is important to develop our internal information hygiene and disseminate as much truthful information as possible about what NATO really is, the benefits of Ukraine's cooperation with NATO, and how many transformations we are undergoing to meet the political, economic, legal and military criteria for membership in the Alliance," said Olha Stefanishyna, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine.

"The state must transparently and clearly communicate to every citizen what NATO is. And most importantly: how joining NATO will affect our country. Only a deep awareness and knowledge of the nuances will help to understand what opportunities we will have. This is about democracy, "commented Minister of Culture and Information Policy Oleksandr Tkachenko.

After the entry into force of the Decree of the Head of State, the Government must develop and approve within three months a plan of measures for the implementation of this Strategy.

It is planned that it will be implemented by 2025 in four stages. The first stage (2021) is dedicated to the organizational support of the Strategy implementation. The second stage (also 2021) is a broad information campaign on the purpose, content and previous results and expected results of the state policy of Euro-Atlantic integration. A web portal of Euro-Atlantic integration will be created, a package of information-reference and information-educational materials on the state policy of Euro-Atlantic integration and on reforms within its implementation will be developed. A permanent discussion press club will also be established.

Within the framework of the third stage (2022-2025), there will be conducted information support of reforms and measures of Euro-Atlantic integration. Regular monitoring of the implementation of the Strategy, implementation of programs and plans will be carried out. During the fourth stage (2025) it is planned to evaluate the effectiveness of the Strategy implementation.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine will monitor the implementation of the Strategy. The overall coordination and current control over the execution of the Strategy will be carried out by the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine.
