Ample opportunities for investment partnership between Ukraine and Italy is the key topic of the business forum in Rome which was held within the framework of the visit of the official delegation of Ukraine led by First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, Minister of Economic Development and Trade Stepan Kubiv.
Head of State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving (SAEE) Serhii Savchuk and representatives of the Italian business community discussed fruitful areas of cooperation, namely renewable energy: prospects for implementation of projects, significant resource base and recent legislative changes in the transition to auctions in Ukraine; energy efficiency: high demand for ESCO-projects in Ukrainian budget institutions and objects of government bodies; energy utilization of waste: opportunities for using more than 10 million tons of garbage per year for generating energy and plans for legislative stimulation of this trend.
During the speech Head of SAEE drew attention of the Italian partners to the Investment Map of UAMAP encapsulating more than 100 potential "green" projects in Ukraine with a total funding of more than 4 billion euros.
The advantages of investing in green projects in Italy and Ukraine were presented by representatives of international financial institutions – the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Investment Bank.
"We appreciate the opportunity to attract the best technologies and investments in Italy, where, for example, about 34% of electricity is already generated from renewable energy sources. Italy plans to receive more than 50% of "green" electricity in 2030 ", Serhii Savchuk stressed.
Following the results of the forum the parties agreed to strengthen partnership and close information sharing with the Italian side on promising projects in the abovementioned areas.
