Ukraine will not recognize fake Russian passports issued to residents of the occupied Ukrainian territories, primarily Luhansk and Donetsk regions  and calls on the international community not to recognize these documents as well. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman  made  this statement a Government meeting. He emphasized that such a step is encapsulated in the government’s decision and aimed to draw international attention to the repeated disregard for the norms of international law by the Russian Federation, which is conducting a hybrid war against Ukraine and the entire civilized world.

"Another step recently made by Russia – issuance of fake passports to Ukrainian citizens. We understand that this is a violation of all norms. We will never recognize the citizenship granted by the aggressor country. We have our Ukrainian passport  of which we are proud of and which is a symbol of freedom and democracy. We make a decision to determine all passports issued to Ukrainian citizens in our territory as a violation of the rules of law. These passports will be considered illegal - when crossing the state border and use in the territory of the state. This will be our response to Russia's hybrid action. And we will urge all the partner countries to take  the same decision in order to make these fake passports invalidated when crossing the borders of other countries", the Prime Minister stated.
