The development of nuclear and distributed generation is a priority. This was stated by the Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko during the National Marathon "United News".

"If we want economic growth and to avoid electricity shortages, we need to build nuclear generation. In order to provide regional hubs with local generation, we need to build distributed generation. These are two processes that must take place simultaneously," he said.

The Minister reminded that last year the Energy Strategy of Ukraine had been approved, which defines the relevant areas as key to the development of the energy sector.

German Galushchenko also noted that preparations for the construction of two new power units at Khmelnytsky NPP using the American AR 1000 technology had recently begun.

"I am confident that Ukraine will be the first country in Europe to build this new type of reactor. This is an important geopolitical project because it is about displacing russian nuclear technology. Therefore, it is important not to stop," he added.
