Prolonging of the most effective reform pursued by the Government of Ukraine - decentralization and strengthening of local governance - was jeopardized through the politicking and the reluctance of particular leaders to serve the interests of citizens. Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman announced during A Question Time for the Government at the Verkhovna Rada.

"In 2014, I became the leader of change, and now, I emphasize, I am committed to provide leadership and further progress", the Head of Government stressed.

Volodymyr Groysman accentuated that now is the time for constitutional changes that will determine and enshrine the processes of empowering local authorities.

"We engage in preparation and will submit to the Verkhovna Rada a new stage of decentralization", the Prime Minister said.

Meanwhile, the PM appealed to MPs with a request to provide facts of obstacles posed to the process of amalgamation of communities. "It is unacceptable when people consolidated in order to increase their budget, improve salaries and someone interferes with that. We will stand to protect the interests of people. Provide the list of those who hamper (the consolidation), we will make a submission to the President on their dismissal", added Volodymyr Groysman.
