  • Pavlo Rozenko: Around 10 million seniors felt the positive effect from the pension reform

As a result of indexation of pensions launched on March 1, about 10 million Ukrainian pensioners felt positive results of the pension system reform that had triggered in October 2017. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Rozenko in Khmelnytsky.

"Since March 1, about 10 million Ukrainian pensioners felt that the pension reform we started in October 2017 is yielding positive results", the Deputy Prime Minister said.

Pavlo Rozenko stressed that now the indexation of pensions will occur on an annual and automatic basis. "Now the process of indexation and updating of pensions will take place automatically. Every March 1, a person will receive a new indexed pension. I emphasize that this is a constant monthly payment", he noted, adding that on the initiative of the President of Ukraine, it was decided that the size of the indexation cannot be under UAH 100.

"And we are pleased from the current situation when 2.5 million Ukrainians got more than UAH 1000 monthly payments as a result of the indexation process. Despite the difficult financial situation in which our country occurs, because the war is not over yet, we still find opportunities for raising both pensions and wages", summed up Pavlo Rozenko.

The Deputy Prime Minister also emphasized that, despite the calls of certain politicians to suspend any payments until the end of the presidential election, no social program will be stopped. "This is a tough stance shared by the President of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Government. We will prolong payment of both monetized subsidies, and improved pensions, moreover, we will introduce new social programs to improve the living standards of our fellow citizens. We are not going to adapt to the wishes of any politicians", Pavlo Rozenko said.
