The assistance of the diplomatic corps in attracting investment in regional development is of utmost importance for us. This was announced by Vice Prime Minister/Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities of Ukraine Hennadii Zubko during the meeting with the heads of foreign diplomatic missions of Ukraine.

He noted that Ukraine has a considerable export and investment potential, which should be known in the world and which is associated with several key areas.

"Firstly, the management system has changed in the country. The decentralization reform allows local self-governments to create all conditions for attracting investments. And this is not only a matter of finance, this is primarily a matter of attracting technology, training personnel, supporting the creation of a developed infrastructure. Today, consolidated territorial communities are able to conduct negotiating and attract investors to the development of enterprises on their territories, the reconstruction of infrastructure and, the introduction of social services, etc., as well as to agree that taxes paid by enterprises created by the investors should be invested in local infrastructure", Hennadii Zubko stressed.

According to the Vice Prime Minister, energy efficiency, work of the Energy Efficiency Fund, and issue of reducing energy consumption are also promising investment areas. "With market prices for energy, Ukraine has the potential for high profit margin for the energy efficiency sector. In addition, issues of energy independence and energy efficiency have a direct impact on Ukraine's macroeconomic indicators. We hope that besides supporting the Multi-Donor Fund created by Germany and other EU countries, we will continue to attract technologies that will enable us to quickly reduce gas consumption", Hennadii Zubko stated.

According to him, traditional brands for Ukraine as heavy machinery, aircraft construction and agricultural sector are attractive to investors. "Development and producing of powerful unique turbines in the world for power plants. Only Siemens and General Motors have similar products. This is a very serious potential", the Vice Prime Minister said.

"This information must be communicated to the world public. It is important to say that in the course of the decentralization reform we are building  the same management system  as in European countries. A potential investor should be aware that having opened an enterprise and registering it in a particular populated area, he will clearly know how much and which local taxes he will need to pay and where the funds will be directed to. And that this is a completely transparent process. This is a totally different approaches as opposed to those having existed  in centralized Soviet system of governance, when the issue of local infrastructure was solved at the level of ministries rather than at the local levels. It is incredibly important for us to bring this information to potential investors", Hennadii Zubko underscored.
