The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine submitted the draft Law of Ukraine "On Amendments to Article 2 of the Law of Ukraine" On compensation to citizens of loss of earning payments due to delays of payment deadlines" approved on January 24, 2020, which is aimed at eradicating wage debt.
Commenting on the decision initiated by the Minister of Social Policy, Minister Yulia Sokolovska stressed that the Government pushes fowrad initiative designed to liquidate wage, pension arrears, etc. to ensure Ukrainians receive all payments in a timely manner.
The Minister emphasized that citizens should receive compensation in case of delayed payments - this is fair and in line with the strategy of the Government.
Yulia Sokolovska also placed an emphasis on the fact that the bill will help minimize corruption risks due to the clear administrative decision-making procedure encapsulated in the draft law.
The Minister of Social Policy explained that the main amendments submitted by the Government for the consideration of MPs are the establishment of a detailed list of monetary payments subject to compensation in case of delays in payment. In this case, the payment mechanism does not change and takes into account inflation over the period of delay.
It should be recalled that the said list includes the following payments: pensions or monthly lifetime allowance, social payments, study allowance, wages, as well as the amount of indexation of citizens' incomes.
