Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman insists on the early launch of the work of the Supreme Anticorruption Court and the settlement of all domestic issues, in particular where the court and Appeals Chamber will be located, within a month’s period.
The Head of Government said during to tackle the first steps to be made necessary to ensure the activities of the Supreme Anticorruption Court.
Prime Minister of Ukraine reminded that after the adoption by Parliament of the Law of Ukraine "On the Establishment of the Supreme Anticorruption Court", the Government approved the Plan for the organization of development of the necessary legislative initiatives. First of all, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Social Policy, the State Property Fund, will be responsible for the drafting of those.
"Laws have been approved. It is crucial to adopt all decisions to start the work of the Anticorruption Court. There have been triggered procedures for recruiting judges. And there are things we have to do to meet the needs – the premises, financing, security", said Volodymyr Groysman.
The PM emphasized that, among other things, it is significant to determine and ensure security of the premises of the Supreme Anticorruption Court, the personal protection of judges, their housing and personal safety of members of their families, and the protection of their property. This work will be carried out by the units of the National Police and the National Guard.
The Ministry of Finance must include expenditures necessary for ensuring the activities of the Anticorruption Court into the State Budget drafts for subsequent years. Funds for the current year are provided as they were previously included in the state budget.
The Ministry of Economic Development, together with the State Property Fund and the Kyiv City State Administration, should provide the Appeals Chamber of the Supreme Anticorruption Court and the Chambers of the Supreme Anticorruption Court with appropriate premises to ensure the administration of justice at first instance.
The Head of the Government instructed within a month to determine relevant premises and to prepare all necessary documentation, including financing of the lease. "I give you one month to determine the room. Apart from that, I commission the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to start consultations with international organizations on the search for independent experts. The objective is to provide everything necessary until the court starts its work", said Volodymyr Groysman.
