Following the International Summit of Cities and Regions, 11 agreements were signed between Ukrainian regions, cities, hromadas and their foreign partners. This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.

“It was a very productive day of the International Summit of Cities and Regions. We presented the concept of the Regional Office for International Cooperation to create a network of communication platforms between local authorities and foreign partners. We signed a joint Declaration involving 30 countries, the Council of Europe, the EU and the European Committee of the Regions. It confirms the readiness to take patronage of the regions affected by russian terror,” the Head of Government said.

According to the Prime Minister, the guiding principles of horizontal partnership were also agreed upon. These are the “build back better” principle, the rule of law, the inviolability of local self-government, and the involvement of the widest possible range of participants.

“Ukraine has joined the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. This is the world’s largest system for providing internationally coordinated operational assistance in emergencies,” said Denys Shmyhal.

The Prime Minister also thanked the partners for their continued willingness to provide assistance and support.
