The concept of development of education in four specific disciplines, such as science, technology, engineering and mathematics, is a European and global trend that helps to master the professional skills of the 21st century.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal noted during a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on Wednesday, August 5. Based on its results, the Government approved the concept of development of STEM interdisciplinary approach in education.

"The Government is striving to ensure that scientific, technical, mathematical and engineering professions become popular again. This is a response to the demands of the economy and the needs of society," said Denys Shmyhal.

The STEM approach will be best combined with reformed school education.

"With our today's decision we will actually direct UAH 1 billion to provide a quality, modern, affordable "New Ukrainian School". We suggest that the funds of the state subvention provided for local budgets be used by local governments for the support and maintenance of the "New Ukrainian School", summed up the Prime Minister.
