The team of the Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development met with Danish government officials and businesses. The meeting dealt with priority restoration projects to attract Danish business in key sectors: energy, port infrastructure, and export logistics.
The meeting was chaired by Morten Bødskov, Minister for Industry, Business and Financial Affairs, and attended by Ambassador of Denmark to Ukraine Ole Egberg Mikkelsen, representatives of the Export and Investment Fund of Denmark EIFO and Velux Group.
“We are grateful to Danish investors who are already present in Ukraine and plan to expand their presence. Attracting international business and investment is a matter of economic sustainability and defense capability of our country. For our part, we are creating the necessary conditions for the development of the private sector.
Special thanks to the Government of Denmark for its systemic support, in particular through the mechanisms of support for Danish businesses in Ukraine,” said Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine, Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development.
Anna Yurchenko, Deputy Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development for European Integration, presented to the Danish side the areas of work that require priority attention from investors and are vital for Ukraine.
First and foremost, this includes the restoration and protection of energy infrastructure facilities, as well as the development of decentralized energy, such as the purchase and installation of cogeneration units and gas turbine stations.
Yuriy Vaskov, Deputy Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine, focused on export logistics, in particular, the possibility of garnering investment in Ukraine's port infrastructure. It is crucial for us to invest in our ports, continue their modernization and strengthen their sustainability. In particular, since August 2023,
since the launch of the Ukrainian Corridor, a temporary export route through the Black Sea, more than 40 million tonnes of cargo of various types have been transshipped from the deep-water ports of Greater Odesa. The ports of the Danube cluster maintain consistently high export performance.
The road sector remains a priority for military logistics and continues to ensure the country's economic stability. Mustafa Nayyem, Head of the State Agency for the Restoration and Development of Infrastructure of Ukraine, spoke about the need to maintain key roads in the country that provide military logistics and medical evacuation. At the same time, work is underway to modernize access roads and border crossing points to increase export capacity.
Oleksandra Azarkhina, Deputy Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine, noted that Denmark was a reliable partner of Ukraine, and that cooperation in the restoration of Mykolaiv was an exemplary form of work at the government and regional levels. We are committed to continue to strengthen our partnership and expand the geography of our cooperation.
The Ministry's team also presented the BAG platform to representatives of the Danish private sector, a business advisory group for engaging business and private capital in the recovery process, particularly at the regional and local levels. Currently, BAG unites more than 440 business representatives. We also invite business partners from Denmark who are interested in participating in Ukraine's recovery to join this platform.
