Ukraine,
Georgia, Moldova and Azerbaijan are writing a new page in the work of the
Organization for Democracy and Economic Development GUAM. This was stated by
Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman during the first GUAM business
forum which is being held for the first time in
the framework of the summit of the GUAM countries-participants at the
level of Heads of Governments in Kyiv. The summit has been initiated by the Prime
Minister of Ukraine.
“Today is an
important event. We have held the significant summit as
well as have inked a series of documents that will allow us to improve
cooperation between our countries. We are to speed up the introduction of a
free trade area within the limits of GUAM member states , we will analyze
which are the opportunities regarding
the improvement of our transport
logistics, stressed Volodymyr Groysman
in his opening statement at the business forum. The potential of our countries
will enable us to achieve more. We will make every effort to fill this format
with new energy. We are opening a new page in the history of GUAM”.
Earlier in
the framework of the summit of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development its
participants signed two important international documents - the Protocol on
approval of the Procedure of establishment and activity of the Working Body
coordinating the actions of Contracting Parties to the Agreement on the
establishment of free trade between the GUAM member states, dated 20 July 2002
and the Protocol between customs administrations of the States of GUAM member
states on the mutual recognition of certain results of customs control of goods
and means of transport moving across the state borders of GUAM member states.
The inked documents will enable GUAM participating countries to introduce the
efficient free trade zone and to increase trade turnover which today amounts
more than USD 1.7.billion. The cooperation process of customs administrations
will contribute to the development of mutual trade, the revival of the
transport capacity of member states as well as of third countries interested in the
transportation of their goods across the region.
