Having launched the programme Available Medicines in each region of the country, the Government will continue to improve the system to cover an increasing number of Ukrainians and to ensure wider access of the citizens to free drugs. Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman told to media people in Kharkiv.
"Starting April 1 we have launched a program of free medicines for Ukrainian citizens. It is a plain fact that the program came into effect and people have access to free medications. We need more time to reach every nook, especially in rural areas, where the networks (of pharmacies) will be covered by this program", said Volodymyr Groysman. He added that it had been impossible to organize work properly for one month.
The Prime
Minister reminded that two weeks ago he had summoned a conference call dedicated
to healthcare issues with heads of regional state administrations who ascertained
that the government programme of reimbursement was
operating in each area. "This means that a growing number of people are getting
access to free medications", stressed Volodymyr Groysman.
The Head of
Government noted that while in Kharkiv he would visit a local pharmacy to
"hear firsthand what the problems are and what needs to be updated".
"We
will find problems if they exist in the system or in the regions, and will
solve them. We have enough money, the system has been built efficiently and for
the benefits of Ukrainian citizens, so we will just improve its work", underscored
the Prime Minister.
