  • Government pledges to improve logistical support of CID in synergy with Parliament and expects law enforcement agencies to intensify security in the streets

    The Government stands ready to cooperate with Parliament and ensure improvement of logistical support for the Criminal Investigation Department of Ukraine, but counts that law enforcement agencies, in turn, will ensure peace and security in the streets of villages, settlements and cities of Ukraine. Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman announced during the board meeting of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine on Thursday.

    "I undertake commitment – together with the Minister [of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov] we will provide 100% of the needs in logistical support of the Criminal Investigation Department of Ukraine. Please, give me the number - we will allot it for you to create a normal climate, working atmosphere in operation of the Criminal Investigation Department", promised Volodymyr Groysman.

    The Prime Minister stressed that he fully takes under personal control the state of affairs in the CID in this issue.

    He noted that the salary of officers of the Criminal Investigation Department had been raised almost threefold from October 1. The Government will maintain and continue this growing tendency, he said.

    "To support and provide - we promise it. Together with the Parliament - I think that parliamentarians will support it, and the Committee as well", he said. “I guarantee full support of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine together with the Parliament. But I wanted all the things that we do be translated into peace, health and security of people. This is what I am willing to exert all my efforts in: to make it happen. What ain’t I ready to support? I won’t back pressure on business, covering schemes, other things that are incompatible with the service of the National police".

    Volodymyr Groysman noted that often law enforcement officers are involved in bribery and corruption, in various crimes, such as smuggling, shadow schemes and so on. Moreover, often entrepreneurs, businessmen complain about the abuse of members of law enforcement agencies.

    "We demand from you to perform your duties effectively and demonstrate dedication in work. It should be two-way move”, said Volodymyr Groysman. “We expect from relevant regional departments intensifying of efficiency of your work”, he stressed and added that it is crucial to ensure those who committed crimes be punished in line with legislation and in full cooperation with other law enforcement agencies, especially regarding the crimes that pose a threat to life and health of Ukrainian citizens.

    "Our task is to catch criminals, imprison them. It is a challenge for everyone here, and outside this room, and for me as well. We must build all together a successful European country. Without you it’s impossible to achieve”, said the Prime Minister.
