The
Government stands ready to cooperate with Parliament and ensure improvement of
logistical support for the Criminal Investigation Department of Ukraine, but
counts that law enforcement agencies, in turn, will ensure peace and security
in the streets of villages, settlements and cities of Ukraine. Prime Minister
of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman announced during the board meeting of the
Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine on Thursday.
"I
undertake commitment – together with the Minister [of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov] we will provide
100% of the needs in logistical support of the Criminal Investigation
Department of Ukraine. Please, give me the number - we will allot it for you to
create a normal climate, working atmosphere in operation of the Criminal
Investigation Department", promised Volodymyr Groysman.
The Prime
Minister stressed that he fully takes under personal control the state of
affairs in the CID in this issue.
He noted
that the salary of officers of the Criminal Investigation Department had been
raised almost threefold from October 1. The Government will maintain and
continue this growing tendency, he said.
"To
support and provide - we promise it. Together with the Parliament - I think
that parliamentarians will support it, and the Committee as well", he
said. “I guarantee full support of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine together
with the Parliament. But I wanted all the things that we do be translated into
peace, health and security of people. This is what I am willing to exert all my
efforts in: to make it happen. What ain’t I ready to
support? I won’t back pressure on business, covering schemes, other things that
are incompatible with the service of the National police".
Volodymyr Groysman
noted that often law enforcement officers are involved in bribery and
corruption, in various crimes, such as smuggling, shadow schemes and so on.
Moreover, often entrepreneurs, businessmen complain about the abuse of members
of law enforcement agencies.
"We
demand from you to perform your duties effectively and demonstrate dedication
in work. It should be two-way move”, said Volodymyr Groysman. “We expect from
relevant regional departments intensifying of efficiency of your work”, he
stressed and added that it is crucial to ensure those who committed crimes be
punished in line with legislation and in full cooperation with other law
enforcement agencies, especially regarding the crimes that pose a threat to
life and health of Ukrainian citizens.
"Our
task is to catch criminals, imprison them. It is a challenge for everyone here,
and outside this room, and for me as well. We must build all together a
successful European country. Without you it’s impossible to achieve”, said the
Prime Minister.
