Infrastructure stability
As of 20:00 on March 1, Ukraine’s power system is operating in a stable autonomous mode. The network frequency is maintained at 50 Hz. All nuclear, thermal and hydroelectric power plants operate in Ukraine, and all critical energy infrastructure facilities are controlled.
- The evening maximum consumption today, March 1, was 14.2 GW. Forced cut-offs of consumers to reduce consumption do not apply. People can use electricity in the usual way - it is produced enough for household consumers and the military.
- Ukrenergo's operational repair crews and distribution system operators work around the clock to repair damaged power lines as soon as possible between hostilities.
- The daily volume of electricity consumption yesterday, February 28, amounted to 321 million kWh, which is 1.6% more than the previous day (February 27 - 315.8 million kWh). At the same time, during the coverage of demand, the production of thermal power plants, nuclear power plants and wind farms increased. NPP production increased by 1.6%, thermal power plants - by 11.4%, wind farms - by 60.2%. Production of hydropower plants decreased by 22.6% and hydropower plants by 1.9%.
- For the second day in a row, the NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine has been recording an increase in the number of calls to the call center - 1,352 calls from our customers have been processed so far. All digital services and the company's website work stably and smoothly.
- Employees of the Novorozdilskyi Electric Networks Branch today conducted electricity to the checkpoint set up by terrorists at the entrance to Novyi Rozdol. CHPs of Novoyavorivsk and Novy Rozdol operate as usual. All consumers are provided with heating and hot water. The Novoyavorivsk Electric Networks and Novorozdil Electric Networks branches regularly supply electricity to cities.
- Chornomornaftogaz continues to produce gas at the Strelkovo field (Genichesk district of Kherson region) and to supply gas to the local population. As there is no electricity in the villages of Strilkove, Shchaslyvtseve and other three days, a stable gas supply is critical. Gas consumption has increased, but it is fully secured.
- Consumers of Naftogaz Trading Gas Supply Company will be fully supplied with gas in March. The company has contracted a sufficient amount of resources for this purpose. will then buy out Naftogaz Trading for the needs of its customers.
- The underground gas storage system operates as usual. Employees of JSC "Ukrtransgaz - Operator of gas storage facilities of Ukraine" continue to work hard - the facilities of the underground storage network remain under reliable control.
- The situation at the facilities of JSC Donetskoblgaz has remained unchanged since the morning. At least 4,680 consumers are left without gas due to Russia's military invasion. Unfortunately, it is currently not possible to determine the extent of the damage due to active hostilities in the company's area.
- OJSC Kirovogradgaz operates normally without emergency situations.
- Employees of Ukrtransgaz, the operator of gas storage facilities in Ukraine, continue to protect underground gas storage facilities from enemies and saboteurs. Last night, thanks to the professional work and vigilance of the territorial defense detachment of the village of Olyshivka, a kilometer from the Olyshivka underground storage facility, two saboteurs were found and detained. The criminals were promptly detained and handed over to police. In the future, they will be brought to justice for their crimes. Currently, Olyshivske UGS is under heightened security. Territorial defense checkpoints are monitoring all entrances to the storage facilities. At the same time, local defenders help our colleagues to patrol and inspect the gas well round-the clock.
- Gas is extracted from Ukrainian underground storage facilities on a regular basis.
- Naftogaz Trading ensures stable gas supply to consumers. No violations of the control center have been registered in the past 24 hours. The company fulfills all financial obligations to contractors and the state. In February, Naftogaz Trading transferred more than UAH 1.6 billion of taxes and fees to the budgets of all levels.
- Hostilities continue in the area of activity of JSC Donetskoblgaz. Currently, our colleagues have been forced to disconnect Donske from the gas supply in order to prevent a possible accident. The number of disconnected consumers currently makes up 4,680.
- Novoyavorivska and Novorozdilska CHPs (Lviv region), which are managed by Naftogaz Teplo LLC, operate as usual. All consumers are provided with heating and hot water. But, given the circumstances, the CHPs prepar for any scenarios. That is why the employees of the New Rozdol CHP are preparing road tanks to provide water to the citizens in case of lack of water supply in the city. The branches of Novorozdilsky Elektromerezhi and Novoyavorivski Elektromerezhi provide uninterrupted electricity to all consumers.
- The GTS of Ukraine operator "suspended the operation of two more gas distribution stations (GDS) in the areas of hostilities to prevent gas leaks and danger to the population due to damage to regional gas networks. At the same time, there is no significant damage to infrastructure. meeting Ukraine's natural gas needs.
- The technical stage of synchronization of Ukraine's energy system with the European ENTSO-E energy system will last up to two weeks. The EU supports Ukraine's accession to the integrated network of continental Europe as soon as possible. We will solve the necessary technical issues in close coordination with the European Commission, EU member states and other international partners. Ukraine, for its part, will do everything in its power to complete the synchronization process as soon as possible. We are very close to our energy independence and thank the EU for its help in supplying the necessary energy products.
- On March 1, the National Energy and Utilities Regulation Commission (NEURC) set the minimum selling price of electricity for day-ahead and intraday electricity market at the Ukrainian energy system at 110% of the estimated price on the day-ahead market (RNP).
- The regulator has also eased the conditions for applying the status of "defaulted" to electricity producers that provide services in the balancing market, universal service providers as well as traders under certain conditions.
International arena

Nord Stream 2 is on the verge of bankruptcy due to sanctions. Switzerland's Nord Stream 2 AG, which operates Gazprom's Nord Stream-2, is considering bankruptcy following sanctions. The company is considering filing for insolvency and is trying to settle its liabilities before the US sanctions expire on March 2. Founded by Russia's Gazprom and registered in Switzerland, Nord Stream 2 AG is currently working with a financial adviser to repay its liabilities and could formally file for bankruptcy in a Swiss court this week. In addition, the Minister of Economy of Switzerland Guy Parmelin said on Monday that all staff of Nord Stream - 2, more than 140 employees, were fired.
The European Parliament has proposed to limit the purchase of Russian oil and gas. The European Parliament also reiterated calls for a significant reduction in energy dependence, in particular on Russian gas, oil and coal, a permanent withdrawal from the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline, and called on Member States to suspend any cooperation with Russia in the nuclear field, including cooperation with Rosatom and its subsidiaries, including cooperation with Russia in the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and to close or revoke licenses for all Rosatom subsidiaries.
