The construction of preschools and kindergartens should become a priority included in the list of projects financed by the State Regional Development Fund, while the queues for admission to state kindergartens should be removed no later than by 2020.

"In 2020 queues for preschool attendance will be withdrawn from the agenda. It is clear that this had to be done before, but we lacked opportunities. Now our challenge is to make a kindergarten issue be made a priority project for the SRDF. Tomorrow we are to approve the budget, and I assure you we will be engaged in preparations during the three weeks to ensure each region received appropriate tasks and could start construction activities with the onset of the construction season. Little Ukrainians should not stand in queues," the Head of Government noted.

Background

According to the plan of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the number of places in kindergartens and preschools by 2020 should reach 97 thousand. This will completely satisfy the needs of the society. The draft State Budget for 2018 provides for the allocation of UAH 6 billion for the State Regional Development Fund to solve this problem.
