The Cabinet of
Ministers of Ukraine has adopted the Resolution "On conclusion of the Association
Agreement between Ukraine, on the one hand, and the European Union, the
European Atomic Energy Community and their Member States on the other
hand," at its meeting on November 21, 2013, in accordance with which for the
benefit of Ukraine's national security the process of preparing for signing of
the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU is suspended.
The Resolution has
been adopted with a view to study and work out a complex of measures in
details, which Ukraine has to take in order to restore the lost production
output and areas of trade and economic relations with Russia and other CIS
members states, form an appropriate level of domestic market, which would
provide equal relations between Ukraine and EU member states that is the
fundamental principle of the international law and the basis of economic
security of the state.
According to the Resolution,
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with the Ministry of Economic
Development and Trade and the Ministry of Industrial Policy are instructed to offer
the European Union and the Russian Federation forming a tripartite commission for
working out complex issues aimed at restoring the lost production output and
areas of trade and economic relations, expansion and promotion of international
trade, further liberalization of markets, harmonization of the regulatory
framework to improve the conditions of implementation of business activities.
have also been instructed to resume an active dialogue with the Russian Federation and other countries of the
Customs Union of Belarus, Kazakhstan,
and Russia and the CIS Member
States on the revival of
trade and economic relations in order to maintain and strengthen by joining
efforts the economic potential of the state.
The Ministry of
Economic Development and Trade, the Ministry of Industrial Policy, the Ministry
of Agrarian Policy and Food, the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry, the
Ministry of Infrastructure have been tasked to amend state target, industry and
regional programs aimed at the development of trade, production cooperative and
technology exchange with the CIS Member States in order to preserve jobs and
solve other social issues by improving the economic stability of the state.
