The Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov assures that environmentally safe confinement at the Chonobyl nuclear power plant would be built in time. He told this at a briefing after the opening of monument to the workers and veterans of the Interior Affair authorities - liquidators of the Chonobyl accident.

"Ukraine starts on time construction of the “Shelter” and fully meets its obligations. And even if we lack some of the resources we will be able to find recourses and confinement will be built at design time", - Mykola Azarov emphasized.

The Prime Minister noted that in conditions of liquidation of the Chonobyl disaster “Shelter” was built in record time and was timed approx 30 years of safe operation. According to Mykola Azarov the construction of a new sarcophagus has been sill started 10 years ago - shelter over the destroyed 4 th Chornobyl unit, which will allow at least 100 years to close the nuclear fuel residues, which are now under the concrete shelter of Chornobyl.

Mykola Azarov noted that Ukraine couldn’t gather in time the necessary funds for the “Shelter”, but by 25 anniversary of Chonobyl catastrophe at the initiative of the President of Ukraine was held a donor conference in Kiev, which donated 550 million Euros to build a new “Shelter”. According to the Prime Minister, now we continue to receive reports on allocation of funds from countries that directly at the summit did not declare allocation amounts. “And there is no doubt that we will collect the necessary funds to us", - Mykola Azarov said, noting that these goals are require 740 million Euros.

The Prime Minister once again thanked the leaders of countries and their peoples for giving financial assistance.
