For the
first time ever in the history of Ukrainian customs Agreement between the
Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and Government of Montenegro on mutual
assistance in customs matters have been signed.
On June
17, 2009 a
delegation of Customs Administration of Montenegro led by director of the
customs department Miodrag Radusinovic
paid a visit to the State Customs Service of Ukraine. Non-resident Ambassador
of Montenergo to Ukraine Jelko
Radulovic also attended the State Customs Service
together with the Montenegrin delegation.
The
Ukrainian delegation was led by head of the Customs Service Anatolii
Makarenko.
Ukrainian
and Montenegrin parties considered issues of state and prospects of bilateral
cooperation in customs domain.
The heads
of customs administrations noted, nowadays cooperation in the customs area
between Ukraine and Montenegro is carried on within the framework
of WCO membership of the two states. Acquiring of WCO membership and joining to
international customs conventions facilitate strengthening partner-like
relations and raising effective cooperation between the State Customs Service
of Ukraine and Customs Administration of Montenegro.
Besides,
the sides tackled results of law enforcement activity of the customs bodies of Ukraine and Montenegro.
Montenegrin
representatives underlined their interest in maintaining information exchange
with the State Customs Service in the issues of contraband fight and especially
concerning attempts of illegal transportation of cigarettes.
According
to Anatolii Makarenko, a
new page of bipartite relations in customs area has been open as today legal
basis for maintaining and development of bilateral customs cooperation in the
direction of mutual administrative assistance were laid.
In the
practice implementation of the signed Agreement will contribute to revealing
and prevention of customs crimes and also establishing security on borders of Ukraine and Montenegro, increasing of revenues to the
state budgets of the states, protection of home market from low quality goods,
experience exchange.
