Prime
Minister Yulia Tymoshenko
believes that Ukraine can consume half natural gas today replacing it with
alternative energy sources. She disclosed this at a special sitting of the
Government, devoted to the issues on attracting investments to the economy of
Ukraine.
“The
volumes of alternative sources of Ukraine are just unique. We can calmly
replace half of natural gas which we consume, with other energy sources and we
do not need to purchase, to be dependent on other countries,” Yulia Tymoshenko stressed.
The
Head of Government also said that alternative sources in the fuel-energy
balance of Ukraine amount to 0.83 % at present, at that time when, for example,
in Austria and Sweden – 24%, Portugal – 17%, Germany -12%, Denmark – 10%. “At
present, when our common team of executive power at the central and regional
levels begins objectively to tackle alternative energy sources, our balance is
“0”. In other words, we begin a new page,” Yulia Tymoshenko noted. But, according to her, the Government
will step by step use all possible potential which the country has today.
