Prime
Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko
is confident that all speculations around her position on official language are
connected with upcoming presidential campaign. She announced at a press
conference today. “I know that today attempts to discredit in all directions
are made before the presidential elections,” she added.
Yulia Tymoshenko
noted that she personally and her political force do
not change their principles, goals, fundamentals, attitude to the national
strategic priorities of the country – it also concerns one official Ukrainian
language.
“I
can once again repeat that in Ukraine there will be “mova”
(Ukrainian language) but not “yazyk” (Russian
language), do you understand? There will be Ukrainian official one language. This
is one of the basic fundamentals of our political activity as regards resumption
of the national self-identity,” the Prime Minister explained.
Yulia Tymoshenko
noted that today she is thinking and living for Ukrainian. “And the fact that I
know Russian very good, I think it is not a secret for you… you all know that I
was brought up in the Russian speaking region in Dnipropetrovsk,
to my mind, I spared no effort to speak Ukrainian as soon as possible as I came
in the Government,” she told.
